The Northern Trust provides a Rapid Access Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) Service for people who may have experienced a TIA, sometimes referred to as a mini stroke.
Assessment may include:
- Blood tests
- Brain imaging
- Carotid artery imaging
- Cardiac assessment
Following assessment, patients may:
- Receive treatment and advice
- Be referred for further investigations
- Be admitted to hospital if required
- Be offered a specialist clinic appointment
Referrals can be made by:
- General Practitioners (GPs)
- Emergency Departments
- Hospital Medical Staff
