Rapid Access TIA (Mini-Stroke) Service

The Northern Trust provides a Rapid Access Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) Service for people who may have experienced a TIA, sometimes referred to as a mini stroke.

Assessment may include:

  • Blood tests
  • Brain imaging
  • Carotid artery imaging
  • Cardiac assessment

Following assessment, patients may:

  • Receive treatment and advice
  • Be referred for further investigations
  • Be admitted to hospital if required
  • Be offered a specialist clinic appointment

Referrals can be made by:

  • General Practitioners (GPs)
  • Emergency Departments
  • Hospital Medical Staff
