Musculoskeletal Podiatry (MSK)
Musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry is an area of podiatry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages presenting with joint, muscle, ligament, tendon and structural issues affecting the lower limb. We work across all localities in the Trust area.
We work alongside physiotherapists regularly in outpatients and have referral sources from local GPs and a range of other health professionals.
The specialist Podiatrists assessment will lead to a clinical diagnosis and an individualised treatment plan which could include:
- Stretching, Stability and Strengthening exercises
- Strapping and splinting
- Footwear advice
- Insoles or Orthotics
- Onward referral if required
For complex Biomechanical issues we have a specialised gait lab based in Ballymena Health and care centre.
