Regional Trauma Network

The Regional Trauma Network (RTN) has been created to better address the long-term consequences of the Troubles or conflict on the mental (and physical) health of our population.

It results from a specific proposal in the Stormont House Agreement (2014) to create a comprehensive service involving both the health and social care trusts and community and voluntary sector organisations funded through the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS).

This exciting initiative connects Troubles-focused services across health and social care trusts and community and voluntary sector services.

There are dedicated teams within each Trust area to enhance capacity and enable those who need support to access it at the right place at the right time.

How to access this service

The Regional Trauma Network is a service for all victims and survivors impacted by the Troubles or conflict related events. ‘Victims and survivors’ are defined in legislation as those who:

  • have been bereaved as a result of a Troubles or conflict-related incident; or
  • have been injured as a result of a Troubles or conflict-related incident (physically or psychologically); or
  • provide substantial and regular care for others who have been injured in this way.

A referral to the Northern Trust Regional Trauma Network can be made through our Psychological Therapies Service.
