Dietetic led coeliac service

Our specialist dietetic led coeliac service supports those diagnosed with coeliac disease to manage their condition and symptoms. They will help you navigate and adjust a gluten free diet, advise what foods are safe for you to eat, and ensure you are getting all the nutrients you need to thrive.

How to access the service

We accept referrals from gastroenterology consultants or GPs, for individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of coeliac disease.

People waiting for consultant-led testing to confirm a diagnosis of Coeliac disease should continue consuming gluten – ideally more than one gluten-containing meal per day, for at least six weeks before testing to ensure the result is accurate.

Once referred to the coeliac specialist service, newly diagnosed patients will be invited to attend a group education session within 3-4 weeks, delivered by a specialist dietitian. The session provides clear information about coeliac disease and practical advice for living gluten free.

Following the initial group session, patients are offered individual appointments with the dietitian for ongoing support and care.
