Adult Nutrition and Dietetics Service

The Adult Nutrition and Dietetics Service assesses, diagnoses and treats dietary and nutritional problems in adults.

We accept referrals for:

  • Nutritional support for those with 10% weight loss over previous 3-6 months, wound healing, tube feeding or swallowing difficulty.
  • Diabetes: Newly diagnosed or increasing HbA1C (indicating poor blood sugar control).
  • Cancer: Upper GI or head and neck or, pancreatic cancer or where nutritional support is required.
  • Gastrointestinal disorders – inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns/ulcerative colitis), diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatic insufficiency.
  • Coeliac disease
  • Cardiovascular disease prevention
  • Renal disease – high potassium
  • Weight management – BMI>30 (lower BMI accepted for those from an African and Asian background).
  • Vitamin/mineral deficiency

How to access the service

The service accepts referrals from any health care professional. If you feel you need our support, please discuss it with your GP, consultant, or any of your healthcare team.
