What to do if you have breast symptoms or concerns

If you have any concerns or notice changes in your breasts, contact your GP as soon as possible. Your GP can refer you to a ‘one‑stop’ clinic for further checks.

At this clinic, you will see a breast specialist. You may also have tests such as a mammogram, ultrasound, or, if needed, a biopsy (a small tissue sample). In some cases, you may get your results on the same day.

A breast care nurse will be available at the clinic to provide support and answer any questions you may have.

If you are worried about your family history of breast cancer, speak to your GP. They can refer you to a specialist clinic to assess your risk and discuss screening options.
