We are looking forward to the opening of the Alongside Midwifery-Led Unit in summer 2026.

The Alongside Midwifery-Led Unit is for women with straightforward, low-risk pregnancies.

The new unit will include:

• Three private birthing rooms
• An en-suite bathroom in each room
• A birthing pool in every room to support labour and birth
• A calm, comfortable and family-friendly environment
• Space and equipment to help you stay mobile and try different labour positions

The Alongside Midwifery-Led Unit will have its own entrance, making it easy for you and your birth partner to access.

The unit will be directly connected to the main hospital. This means that if you or your baby need extra medical support at any stage, there is quick access to obstetric teams, theatres and neonatal care.

This setting offers a relaxed, home-like environment while still providing the reassurance of immediate medical support if needed.
