Children’s Early Intervention Service (Step 2 CAMHS)

The Children’s Early Intervention Service provides support and advice to children, young people and their families who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.

These difficulties can affect how a child or young person copes at home, in school and in everyday life.

The service focuses on early help for those experiencing mild to moderate difficulties. It offers the right level of support for young people whose needs can be best met through early intervention, helping to improve wellbeing and prevent problems from becoming more serious.

We are a community-based service made up of professionals from different backgrounds, all with experience in supporting children, young people and their families.

We offer group support for children and young people, based on best practice in early intervention. These groups help with common difficulties such as anxiety, low mood and managing emotions.

We also run Parents Plus programmes, which are evidence-based parenting courses. These include support for parents of younger children, teenagers and children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In addition, we provide one-to-one support where needed. This may include guided self-help, behavioural approaches and family support. Our aim is to help early, reduce the impact of difficulties and prevent them from becoming more serious over time.
