The Children’s Nursing Service provides acute, community and specialist care to children from birth up to turning 16 years old. For children and young people with complex physical health care needs and who attend a special school, services will be provided by the Community Children’s Nursing team until age 19 years.

Children with additional sensory needs

Our services strive to make the environment and experience as welcoming and friendly for all children, but we recognise that your child may have additional sensory needs that can make a visit or admission to hospital more difficult. If you have any concerns prior to admission, please contact the appropriate unit above to discuss your child’s needs. This may take the form of utilising a sensory area, taking additional time at appointments or simply being able to wait in your care for an outpatient appointment.
